Customer of the Month Nature’s Sunshine/Synergy

32 Years ago, Gene Hughes found himself with a nagging stomach condition. A neighbor suggested that he take cayenne pepper to ease his discomfort. Desperate for relief, he tried this home remedy and it worked! However, swallowing a spoonful of cayenne pepper was no easy task. At this point, Gene’s wife Kristine hit on the idea of putting the powder into an easy-to-swallow gelatin capsule. A revolutionary idea was born. Gene enlisted the support of a few family members and created a small family business. Thirty-two years ago, when the family began encapsulating herbs and selling them to health food stores, they were pioneers in their field. From day one, the family’s focus has always been on helping others to help themselves to a healthier, happier life. This commitment has led Nature’s Sunshine to be one of the leading suppliers of herbal, vitamin, mineral and nutritional supplements worldwide. Today Nature’s Sunshine provides over 500 different products to 600,000 distributors worldwide, in 43 countries outside of the United States. Looking to make a bigger impression in to the Asian market, Nature’s Sunshine approached Synergy worldwide. Synergy worldwide is an industry giant who not only offers a wide variety of products and technologies for skin care, hair care, nutrition, weight management and sports enhancement, but also an extremely innovative business compensation plan in network marketing. Deciding that Synergy would be the perfect complement to their business, Nature’s Sunshine purchased the company in November of 2000. The marriage of these two companies has created one of the most innovative providers in the alternative health industry today. One day while surfing the net, a member of the Nature’s Sunshine team discovered Bags. After a short conversation with one of our representatives, Nature’s Sunshine decided that we could provide a bag perfectly suited to carry Synergy’s vitamins, supplements and other products. Nature’s Sunshine/Synergy uses a 10 x 5 x 13.5 white Kraft shopper bag. The bag is printed in 2-colors with black and silver with 100% coverage. Nature’s Sunshine/Synergy is also using a Kraft shopper of the same size with black and red pinstripes, which is a perfect choice for the holiday season. For each month's featured customer, Bags tries to showcase a customer who has used a unique approach to their packaging, and to share a little about their business with you.
