Unlike other candle makers, Granville Island stands behind their environmental beliefs and uses only all natural lead-free wicks in their candles.

Why buy soy candles? Soy candles made by Granville Island burn at a low temperature making them clean and soot free. Although the burn temperature may be lower, their candle flame is brighter - making for a more attractive candle. They are also completely biodegradable and made from a renewable resource. Dripped wax is water soluble and easy to clean should it drip on a table or carpeting. They are also beautiful and smell fabulous. What more could you ask for? Environmentally friendly and they don't leave behind a waxy mess!

In 2002, Granville Island Candle Company decided to package some of their candles in environmentally friendly bags. Derrick and Jackie Bergman chose a 2.75 x 4 natural muslin drawstring bag, printed with black (water based) ink on one side of the bag. They use several different sizes of drawstring muslin bags, but the 2.75 x 4 bag is the most widely used. Since candles leave nothing behind, the Bergman's decided to print these bags as a form of advertising- cultivating repeat business by making it easy for customer to find them. The bags also are great for gifts, again spreading the word through the printed bags.
